For the past few months, I have been working through the planning stage for outsourcing the email & web hosting of the YMG servers. This action was being considered to provide a better, more reliable service (fewer power outages) with less expense, and to move the servers out of our home office. I had identified a company and setup an account to handle the transfer.
On the evening of 18 April 2008, the YMG email server suffered a major catastrophic failure (a hard drive crash). The disk is still being scanned for recoverable mail messages, but everything may be lost. (If I am able to recover any email messages, I will load them unto the back-up YMG mail server and send an email with download (POP3) instructions.)
Those who download their email daily using a mail client (e.g., Outlook or Outlook Express) (i.e., POP & SMTP), probably did not loose much, if anything. Those who use webmail would have lost everything that had not been copied to their local computer.
This situation has prompted me to implement my transition plan earlier than I had intended. So on 19 April 2008, I entered the DNS changes to route web & email services to 1&1.com, and set-up mailboxes to collect all new email for all of the existing mail box accounts. After 48 hours for the DNS propagation, all services should be functioning properly.
A few necessary changes are required to access your email.
If you are still unable to access your email (either via webmail or POP client), call or fax the YMG US office.
Thank you for your patience as we strive to complete this transition.
